Getting started

Install PaymentDash, connect NMI and take your first payment.

What you need

  • WordPress 6.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer (most hosts today qualify)
  • WooCommerce 8 or newer
  • An NMI merchant account, directly with NMI or through an NMI reseller
  • Optional: WooCommerce Subscriptions for the subscription tools
  • An SSL certificate (your site address starts with https://)

Install

  1. Sign in to My account → Licences on this website and click Download. Your licence key is there too, and in your order email.
  2. In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip and click Install Now, then Activate.
  3. If you already use the WooCommerce NMI Gateway plugin, PaymentDash notices it and uses the same settings. You can switch to the built-in gateway later.

Run the setup assistant

The assistant opens the first time you open PaymentDash. It takes about ten minutes:

  1. Confirm you are using your own NMI account, and paste your licence key.
  2. Choose live or sandbox (test) and paste your private security key.
  3. Paste your public tokenization key so you can type cards in.
  4. Turn on card payments at checkout and choose how saved cards work. Optionally turn on 3D Secure.
  5. Add the webhook so refunds and chargebacks appear right away.
  6. Enter your business name for reports and messages.

Not sure where a key is? See Finding your NMI keys. The same guide is built into the assistant.

Next steps

  • Take the tour (the ? button at the top of the dashboard).
  • Give staff access in Settings → Team & security.
  • Connect Twilio in Settings → Alerts for texts, then each person picks their alerts in the SMS and Email tabs.
  • Make a small real purchase on your store and refund it, to see the whole flow.
